Green Reparation™ is a national social enterprise working with criminal justice organisations on climate change initiatives.
We specialise in the design and franchise of scalable projects that help reduce both reoffending and environmental damage, thereby improving the prospects of people and planet. Our operations include trading products and services, licensing models and tools, training facilitators and changemakers, and influencing debates and agendas.
Green Reparation was established in 2011 as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company governed by a Board of Directors. The company is supported by the Green Reparation UK National Sponsorship Forum, which includes representatives of public, private and third sector stakeholders in its pilot and franchise programmes.
Our Vision — community and custodial sentences significantly reduce reoffending while making an important contribution to climate change issues.
Achieving this vision means adopting an open-minded and integrated approach that applies to how we work, who we work with and who we work for. Green Reparation operates within and across several sectors.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE SECTOR
We work in partnership with the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) to make the prison or community sentence effective and constructive, meeting both punishment and rehabilitation goals.
We collaborate with social enterprises tackling environmental issues to provide work experience opportunities for ex-offenders and to undertake joint business ventures.
We help ensure that unemployed offenders and ex-offenders get the best possible assistance from statutory and voluntary employment services to access jobs in the green economy.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS SECTOR
We work with education and vocational training providers to improve offenders’ skills and qualifications, with an emphasis on relevance to the priorities of green businesses.
